The governor gave the commendation during an inspection tour of ongoing road construction projects in the district, undertaken as part of his administration’s commitment to accountability, quality assurance, and value for public funds.

Speaking during the tour, Governor Okpebholo said the inspection was aimed at distinguishing contractors who are serious and compliant from those who are underperforming.

“We have gone round several places today. We were at Church Road and Upper Ekenwan Road, and we were not too happy with the contractor there. We have made our observations known. If by the time we return and nothing has changed in line with specifications, that job can be revoked,” the governor warned.

He expressed satisfaction with progress at other sites, commending contractors who have demonstrated professionalism and adherence to project standards.

“We have visited three other locations and the work is going on very well. I am very happy with the contractor handling the Ogheghe project; they are doing an excellent job. I am also pleased with the contractor handling the Sapele Road project. They are delivering quality work,” he said.

Governor Okpebholo stressed that his administration would not tolerate avoidable delays, especially with the rainy season approaching, noting that road infrastructure development remains a top priority of his government.

“We will continue to monitor these projects closely, even at weekends. We cannot afford delays. The rainy season is almost here, and if we are not working, nothing will be achieved,” he added.
Aligning the projects with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, the governor said road construction is one of the most visible and impactful ways to restore public confidence in governance.

“We must work in line with Mr President’s Renewed Hope agenda. One of the strongest ways to give our people renewed hope is through road construction. That is how they will see that their votes count and that we are delivering on our promises,” Governor Okpebholo said.

The projects inspected include the 1.4-kilometre Charismatic (Church) Road off Ekhenwa Road, handled by Place of Peace Investment Limited; the Old Sapele Road linking Agip, Ohogbohi and Ogheghe communities, executed by Rawtech Nigeria Limited; Ogheghe Road off Sapele Road, constructed by BRASS Engineering and Construction Nigeria Limited; as well as the Sapele Road Bypass.

Residents of the benefiting communities turned out in large numbers during the inspection, expressing appreciation for what they described as visible and impactful development under the current administration.

Governor Okpebholo was accompanied on the tour by senior government officials, including the Edo State APC Deputy Chairman, Sylvester Aigbobor, and other top functionaries.

According to the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Dr. Ebojele Akhere Patrick, the inspection tour underscores the administration’s zero-tolerance stance on substandard work and its resolve to deliver sustainable infrastructure that directly improves the lives of Edo residents.
