IKPEA MEDIA STRIKERS
A socio-cultural advocacy group, Concerned Esan in Diaspora (CED), has cautioned against equating eloquent political promises with guaranteed delivery, stressing that only leaders with proven integrity and strong character can translate pledges into tangible results.
The group made this known in a statement issued over the weekend by its spokesperson, Engr. Theophilus Ebhomien, while addressing supporters of Senator Joseph Ikpea’s senatorial bid in Benin City.
According to the statement, persuasive political rhetoric often serves as a tool to mislead unsuspecting members of the public rather than a genuine commitment to action.
“The sweetness of political promises from an orator is not a guarantee of implementation. In many cases, such promises are carefully crafted strategies designed to deceive the public,” Ebhomien said.
He emphasized that the true determinant of whether promises are fulfilled lies in the character and integrity of those who make them.
“A man without character may possess the gift of eloquence and make compelling promises, yet lack both the intention and competence to deliver on them,” he added.
Highlighting Senator Joseph Ikpea’s track record, Ebhomien stated that the lawmaker representing Edo Central Senatorial District has distinguished himself through measurable actions rather than mere words.
“When we say Senator Ikpea is defined by action, it means his promises are not empty political tools but commitments that translate into real benefits for his constituents,” he said.
The group further noted that Ikpea has demonstrated consistency, dedication, and a strong commitment across various areas of public service, describing him as a leader capable of converting vision into reality.
“Senator Ikpea is endowed with wisdom, compassion, and courage—qualities essential for effective leadership. He confronts challenges head-on rather than offering excuses or lamenting difficulties,” Ebhomien added.
He also credited the senator’s emphasis on integrity and honesty as key factors enabling him to sponsor impactful legislation aimed at driving positive change.
Expressing confidence in Ikpea’s political future, the group stated that his track record positions him as a leading contender ahead of the January 2027 elections.
“Our optimism is rooted in his consistency and credibility. He is a man who keeps his word and delivers on his promises,” the statement concluded.
