Edo State Government Calls for Active Public Participation in July Environmental Sanitation Exercise

The Edo State Government has appealed to residents to take an active role in this month’s environmental sanitation exercise as part of ongoing efforts to promote a cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable environment across the state.

According to a special announcement issued by the Ministry of Environment and Sustainability, the sanitation exercise is scheduled for Saturday, July 25, 2026, from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Residents have also been informed that there will be no restriction of movement during the exercise.

The Commissioner for Environment and Sustainability, Hon. Nosa Adams (Esq.), urged individuals, households, business owners, and community groups to use the period to clean their surroundings, evacuate refuse appropriately, and clear drainage channels to ensure the free flow of water and improve environmental hygiene.

The ministry stressed that regular sanitation remains a critical component of disease prevention, flood control, and the preservation of public health, noting that a clean environment contributes significantly to the overall well-being of communities.

Residents were further encouraged to comply with existing environmental sanitation laws and adopt proper waste management practices as part of their civic responsibility.

The Edo State Government reaffirmed its commitment to environmental sustainability and called for the cooperation of all residents, emphasizing that collective action is essential to creating a cleaner, safer, and more livable environment for present and future generations.
