Residents of Charismatic Church Road, located off Ekenhuan Road in Benin City, expressed overwhelming excitement and relief as the Governor of Edo State, Monday Okpebholo, conducted an on-site inspection of the ongoing road construction project in the area.
The 1.4-kilometre stretch, currently under construction by Place of Peace Investment Limited, represents a significant infrastructural intervention aimed at addressing years of neglect and hardship endured by residents and business operators along the corridor. For many, the project signals a long-awaited turnaround from a previously impassable and hazardous route.
During the governor’s visit, residents trooped out in large numbers, cheering and openly expressing appreciation for the visible progress of work. The atmosphere was marked by jubilation, as community members acknowledged the transformation already taking shape.
A resident, Blessing Patrick, recounted the prolonged state of disrepair that had defined the road for years, noting that it had severely hindered movement and daily activities. She expressed deep gratitude to the state government, describing the intervention as both timely and impactful.
Similarly, Osarunwense Igbinovia, a trader operating near the junction, highlighted the safety concerns that previously plagued the area. According to her, the deteriorated condition of the road had contributed to erosion challenges and increased vulnerability to criminal activities. She noted that the ongoing reconstruction has already begun to restore a sense of security and normalcy within the community.
The Charismatic Church Road project is expected to enhance connectivity, stimulate local economic activities, and improve overall living conditions for residents. Its completion will further consolidate ongoing efforts by the Edo State Government to upgrade critical infrastructure across urban and semi-urban communities.
The development underscores the administration’s commitment to responsive governance and strategic investment in public works, particularly in areas with longstanding infrastructural deficits.
The statement was issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the Edo State Governor, Dr. Patrick Akhere Ebojele, on Tuesday, March 31, 2026.
