Kingsley Vaifo Ulinfin, a former governorship aspirant under the Labour Party in Edo State, has officially resigned from the party, citing internal factionalism, a departure from founding ideals, and concerns over the perceived monetization of party processes.
In a formal resignation letter addressed to Omolegie Oseyi John, Ward Chairman of Ward 9, Esan West Local Government Area, Ulinfin described the decision as “difficult” but necessary after careful reflection. He emphasized his enduring respect for party colleagues and the office of the Ward Chairman.
“I joined the party with a genuine belief in its promise as a vehicle for integrity, inclusion, and progressive democratic change. However, the prevailing realities now reflect a structure that contradicts those principles,” Ulinfin wrote.
Ulinfin, who had campaigned on a platform of credibility, transparency, and people-centered governance, lamented that the party’s current trajectory no longer aligns with the values that inspired him and many others to join. Despite his resignation, he reaffirmed his continued commitment to the democratic development and national progress of Nigeria.
A former aspirant for the governorship of Edo State, Ulinfin has been recognized for his advocacy for integrity and institutional strengthening within political structures. His resignation marks a significant moment for the Labour Party in the region, underscoring ongoing challenges in maintaining internal cohesion and adherence to its founding principles.
Ulinfin expressed gratitude to party members, supporters, and stakeholders, acknowledging the platform the Labour Party provided him in advancing his political and civic objectives.
