Okpebholo Seeks Public Support, Prayers as Edo Government Intensifies Security and Development Efforts

Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has reiterated his administration’s commitment to strengthening security, accelerating development, and improving the overall quality of life for residents of the state, even as he appealed to citizens for sustained support, prayers, and goodwill.

The governor made the call during a special end-of-the-month Thanksgiving service held at Living Faith Church, Irrua, in Edo Central Senatorial District, where he was warmly received by the church leadership and congregation.

Speaking to worshippers, Governor Okpebholo described the responsibility of governance as enormous, noting that the challenges of insecurity and development require collective effort, unity, and divine guidance. He emphasized that his administration remains focused on delivering tangible and people-oriented outcomes across all sectors of the state.

“I want to request your prayers because the task ahead is enormous. Fighting insecurity is not an easy task. Developing this state is also not an easy task,” the governor said.

According to him, the state government is working round the clock to strengthen Edo’s security architecture, safeguard lives and property, and create an enabling environment that supports investment, economic growth, and social development.

Governor Okpebholo disclosed that strategic initiatives are already being implemented to enhance public safety, expand infrastructure, and create opportunities for youths and women, while ensuring transparency and accountability in governance.

He, however, expressed concern over attempts by some individuals and groups to discredit the efforts of his administration, warning that such actions could undermine public confidence and slow the pace of development.

“As we try to do it, people are trying to discredit us. When they are discrediting us, what next is that we lose confidence. But God is sustaining us, and we will not be distracted from our mission,” he stated.

The governor urged residents of the state to remain united, steadfast in prayer, and supportive of government policies and programmes, stressing that meaningful progress can only be achieved through public trust and cooperation.

He reaffirmed his administration’s resolve to deliver good governance, lasting peace, and sustainable development, assuring that the welfare of Edo citizens will continue to remain a top priority.

Governor Okpebholo also expressed appreciation to the leadership and members of Living Faith Church, Irrua, for their prayers and support, while expressing optimism that Edo State will witness a new era of peace, progress, and shared prosperity.

The Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Patrick Akhere Ebojele, PhD, noted that the administration remains committed to transparent communication and citizen engagement as it drives its security and development agenda across the state.
