Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has been formally registered as a bona fide member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) following the commencement of the party’s statewide electronic registration exercise.

The Governor was registered in his hometown of Irrua, Esan Central Local Government Area, during the ongoing APC e-registration exercise, where he also received his official membership registration card, becoming the first registrant in the state under the new digital process.

Expressing satisfaction with the seamless nature of the exercise, Governor Okpebholo described the e-registration initiative as simple, transparent, and inclusive, urging party members and prospective entrants to take advantage of the opportunity to register across their respective wards and polling units.

Speaking with journalists shortly after receiving his registration card, the Governor commended the APC e-registration team for their efficiency and dedication, while calling on Edo citizens to actively participate in the membership drive ahead of forthcoming general elections.

“I want to sincerely appreciate the APC e-registration team for this exercise. I am delighted by how easy and simple the process is,” the Governor said.
“It is convenient for members who have the required credentials such as their National Identification Number (NIN), voter’s card, and other necessary details. I encourage all Edo citizens and those interested in joining the APC to register and become full members of the party. Registration can also be completed online without necessarily visiting one’s ward or community.”

Governor Okpebholo further acknowledged the presence and oversight of key party leaders, thanking the APC Senatorial Leader, Major General Cecil Esekhaigbe (rtd), for monitoring the exercise and ensuring transparency.

“I am now a fully registered member of the APC with my registration card. I urge every APC member to complete this process and become officially registered members of the party,” he added.

Earlier, the Coordinator of the APC e-registration exercise in Esan Central Local Government Area, Mr. Otoanyenlen Eugene Osedebamen, stated that the initiative was designed to promote inclusiveness, equal opportunity, and stronger participation within the party.

“We are in Irrua today to kick-start the APC e-registration exercise. This process is meant to give equal rights and opportunities to all members of the party, and we urge everyone to register at their respective polling units,” Osedebamen said.

“We are honoured to begin this exercise in the hometown of the Governor of Edo State, Senator Monday Okpebholo, and we use this opportunity to appreciate his commitment to the development of Edo State. We assure him of our continued support for his administration.”

The APC e-registration exercise in Edo State is part of a broader strategy aimed at strengthening the party’s grassroots structure, expanding its membership base, and promoting inclusive governance across the state.

This was contained in a statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor of Edo State, Dr. Patrick Akhere Ebojele, who noted that the exercise represents a significant step toward deepening internal democracy and political participation within the APC.
