First and foremost, heartfelt congratulations to the Chairman-elect of Esan Central Local Government Area, Prince Abdullahi Momodu (popularly known as Superlee), on his electoral victory. The confidence reposed in him by the people is both an honour and a profound responsibility. As he prepares to assume office as the Executive Chairman, expectations are understandably high, and the opportunity to deliver meaningful, people-oriented governance has never been greater.
The transition from a successful political campaign to effective public administration requires vision, discipline, strategic planning, and inclusive leadership. The people of Esan Central will ultimately measure the success of this administration not by campaign promises, but by tangible improvements in their daily lives.
One of the immediate priorities should be the establishment of a competent Economic Planning and Development Team comprising experienced professionals in public finance, agriculture, infrastructure, education, healthcare, entrepreneurship, investment promotion, and policy implementation. A strong technical team will enable the administration to formulate realistic development strategies, maximize available resources, and attract sustainable investments into the local economy.
Equally important is the creation of an Esan Central Diaspora Forum, bringing together sons and daughters of the local government living across Nigeria and around the world. The diaspora community represents an invaluable reservoir of expertise, professional networks, innovation, and investment capital. By institutionalizing engagement with this group, the local government can create opportunities to attract foreign and domestic investors, promote partnerships, facilitate skills transfer, and stimulate economic growth that benefits communities across Esan Central.
A successful administration must also be driven by evidence rather than assumptions. Conducting a comprehensive needs assessment across every ward should therefore become an early priority. Such an assessment will identify the unique developmental challenges, infrastructure deficits, healthcare needs, educational gaps, agricultural opportunities, youth empowerment requirements, and security concerns within each community. Development projects should then be guided by verified data and community priorities rather than political considerations.
Furthermore, sustainable governance thrives on continuous dialogue between leaders and citizens. It is therefore essential that the Chairman institutionalizes periodic roundtable engagements involving traditional rulers, community leaders, youth organisations, women’s groups, religious leaders, market associations, councillors, supervisors, civil society organisations, and other stakeholders. These regular consultations will promote transparency, strengthen public trust, improve policy implementation, and ensure that government remains responsive to the aspirations of the people.
The legislative arm of the local government, particularly the elected councillors, should be treated as strategic partners in governance. Together with supervisors and other political appointees, they should participate actively in planning, monitoring, and evaluating development programmes. A collaborative relationship between the executive and legislative arms will foster accountability, reduce unnecessary conflicts, and accelerate service delivery.
The administration should equally embrace innovation by adopting transparent budgeting, performance monitoring systems, digital governance initiatives, and regular public reporting. Citizens deserve to know how public resources are being managed and the measurable impact of government programmes within their communities.
Esan Central possesses enormous human and natural potential. With visionary leadership, strategic planning, prudent resource management, and genuine community participation, the local government can become a model of grassroots development, investment attraction, and responsive governance within Edo State.
As Prince Abdullahi Momodu (Superlee) prepares to begin this important chapter, the focus should remain firmly on service, integrity, inclusiveness, and sustainable development. The opportunity before him is not merely to administer a local government, but to leave behind a legacy of transformational leadership that future generations of Esan Central people will remember with pride.
Congratulations once again to the Chairman-elect. May this new administration usher in an era of purposeful leadership, economic growth, unity, and sustainable development for every community in Esan Central Local Government Area.
