Reacting to the development, President Tinubu commended the security agencies for their professionalism, resilience, and commitment in securing the safe release of the abducted pupils and teachers. He described the operation as a demonstration of the government’s unwavering resolve to protect the lives and welfare of Nigerians.

The President directed that all the rescued victims receive immediate medical attention, psychological care, and other necessary support to aid their recovery and reintegration following the traumatic ordeal. He also acknowledged the cooperation of the Oyo State Government throughout the rescue efforts.

Reaffirming his administration’s commitment to safeguarding educational institutions, President Tinubu called for strengthened security measures around schools across the country to prevent similar incidents and ensure that learning environments remain safe and conducive for pupils, students, and educators.

The victims were abducted on May 15, 2026, when heavily armed gunmen invaded three schools in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State, triggering widespread condemnation and renewed concerns over the security of schools in Nigeria. The incident prompted sustained efforts by security agencies, while families and well-wishers anxiously awaited the victims’ safe return.

Their release after nearly two months in captivity has been welcomed with widespread relief and gratitude, marking a significant breakthrough in ongoing efforts to combat kidnapping and restore public confidence in the nation’s security architecture.
