The Ebakota Movement Worldwide has reaffirmed its commitment to the Esan Agenda and its determination to pursue the aspiration of an eight-year Esan tenure in the governance of Edo State, as its leadership held its monthly meeting in Igueben Local Government Area over the weekend.
The meeting, hosted by Igueben LGA and presided over by the National President of the Ebakota Movement, ESV Ambassador Tony Okonigene, attracted a strong representation of leaders and members from across the five Esan Local Government Areas, with participants demonstrating their commitment and support for the movement’s objectives.
The meeting ended with the adoption of a communiqué outlining key resolutions on the political unity, development and collective aspirations of the Esan people, as well as issues of wider importance to Edo State.
REAFFIRMATION OF THE ESAN AGENDA
The movement unequivocally reaffirmed its commitment to the Esan Agenda, stressing that the collective interest and aspirations of Esan people remain central to its activities.
The leadership called for greater unity among Esan sons and daughters, urging members to remain focused on a common vision capable of advancing the political and developmental interests of Esanland.
EIGHT-YEAR ESAN ROTATION
The movement reiterated its commitment to the aspiration of Esan having its full eight-year share in governing Edo State.
It resolved to continue engaging the Edo State Governor and other critical stakeholders who support the cause, while pursuing the objective through dialogue, unity and constructive political engagement.
The leadership emphasised that achieving this aspiration requires collective responsibility and sustained cooperation among Esan people across the five local government areas.
SUPPORT FOR GOVERNOR MONDAY OKPEBHOLO
The movement called on Esan sons and daughters and the people of Edo State to continue supporting Governor Senator Monday Okpebholo and his administration.
According to the leadership, constructive engagement and cooperation with the state government are essential to achieving sustainable development and ensuring that the interests of Edo people remain protected.
APPEAL FOR INTERVENTION IN AAU-ASUU MATTERS
The leadership also appealed to Governor Senator Monday Okpebholo to intervene in the issues between the Edo State Government and ASUU at Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma.
The movement urged the Governor to facilitate meaningful dialogue aimed at resolving outstanding issues and restoring lasting industrial harmony at the institution.
The leadership stressed the importance of AAU to the educational and socio-economic development of Esanland and Edo State, and called on all stakeholders to approach the matter with maturity and a commitment to protecting the interests of students and staff.
The movement further expressed its readiness to engage with the Governor and ASUU towards finding a sustainable resolution, noting that there had already been progress in discussions between the parties.
CONGRATULATES GOVERNOR OKPEBHOLO AT 56
The Ebakota Movement congratulated Governor Senator Monday Okpebholo on his 56th birthday anniversary, describing the occasion as an opportunity to celebrate the Governor while reaffirming its commitment to constructive engagement with his administration.
The movement again encouraged the people of Edo State to continue supporting the Governor as he pursues his administration’s development agenda.
STRENGTHENING GRASSROOTS PARTICIPATION
The Igueben meeting also focused on strengthening the structure and grassroots presence of the movement across Esanland.
Reports were received from representatives of the various local government areas, while new members were introduced into the Ebakota Leadership Forum.
The leadership encouraged members to deepen engagement with Esan sons and daughters across communities and ensure that the movement’s objectives are clearly communicated at the grassroots.
The successful hosting of the meeting in Igueben further demonstrated the movement’s practice of rotating its monthly meetings across the Esan Local Government Areas, creating opportunities for broader participation, stronger relationships and direct engagement with members.
With leaders and members participating actively and expressing strong support for the resolutions, the Igueben meeting ended with a renewed commitment to unity, constructive engagement and the advancement of the collective interests of Esan people and Edo State.
