The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Esan Central Local Government recorded a major boost to its grassroots campaign ahead of the July 11 local government election as thousands of party faithful gathered at the Okaijesan Hall premises in Irrua for the grand finale of the party’s ward-to-ward campaign.
The event attracted an impressive turnout of party leaders, supporters, women and youth groups, community stakeholders, and APC loyalists from across the ten wards of the local government, demonstrating the party’s growing grassroots acceptance and readiness for the polls.
One of the major highlights of the rally was the overwhelming show of solidarity by supporters of Senator Joseph Igiagbe Ikpea, who represents Edo Central Senatorial District. The Ikpea Women Support Group added colour and excitement to the occasion with vibrant cultural displays, songs, and coordinated solidarity marches, creating an electrifying atmosphere that reflected the senator’s strong political influence and enduring connection with the grassroots.
Representing Senator Ikpea at the event, his Special Adviser on Political Matters, ESV Ambassador Tony Okonigene, delivered a strong message of unity and commitment on behalf of the senator.
According to him, Senator Ikpea remains fully committed to the success of the APC and is mobilising support to ensure the victory of the party’s chairmanship candidate, Dr. Abdullahi Momodu, popularly known as SuperLee, alongside all APC candidates participating in the local government election.
He urged party members, youths, women, elders, and supporters across Esan Central to come out in large numbers on election day, vote massively for the APC, and encourage their families, friends, and neighbours to do the same.
He further reaffirmed the senator’s unwavering support for the administration of Governor Monday Okpebholo and the collective commitment of the APC family to delivering the promised 2.5 million votes for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, describing the local government election as another opportunity to demonstrate the party’s unity, loyalty, and grassroots strength.
He also appealed to supporters to conduct themselves peacefully during the election while remaining vigilant in protecting their votes, stressing that every vote would contribute to the party’s expected victory.
His address was repeatedly interrupted by thunderous chants of “APC! APC!! APC!!!” as enthusiastic supporters responded with loud cheers and renewed confidence, turning the gathering into a powerful demonstration of unity and political solidarity.
The grand finale was widely seen as more than just the conclusion of the ward-to-ward campaign. It served as a strong political statement of Senator Joseph Igiagbe Ikpea’s continued support for the APC structure in Esan Central, reinforcing confidence among party faithful and energising the grassroots ahead of the crucial local government election.
