A former Commissioner for Mining, Oil and Gas, and Power in Edo State, Enahoro Ojiefoh, has formally resigned from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), citing persistent internal crises within the party.
In a resignation letter dated March 3, 2026, and addressed to the PDP Ward Chairman of Ward 5 in Irrua, Esan Central Local Government Area, Ojiefoh said his decision, which took effect from March 1, followed deep reflection and consultations with family members, friends, and associates.
According to him, the lingering internal challenges within the party have continued to undermine its unity and effectiveness, making it difficult for members to function optimally.
Ojiefoh noted that stepping aside at this time was in his best interest, explaining that he also intends to focus more on his personal business, family, and professional career.
The former commissioner, however, expressed appreciation to former Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, and his wife for the opportunity to serve in his administration. He also extended gratitude to his political associates and leaders, including former Senator Clifford Ordia, as well as Hon. Edionwele and Hon. Adekunle Oboh, for their support during his time in the party.
He further acknowledged the support of his colleagues and members of his community in Usugbenu, Irrua, describing them as instrumental to his political journey.
Despite his resignation, Ojiefoh wished the PDP well in its future endeavours and expressed hope that the party would find lasting solutions to its internal challenges.
His resignation adds to the growing list of political realignments within Edo State’s political landscape as parties continue to reposition ahead of future electoral contests.
