Mayaki Accepts Appointment as APC Edo Media Directorate Head, Pledges Fact-Based Campaign Communication

Political communications strategist, John Mayaki, has formally accepted his appointment by the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo State to head the party’s Media Directorate for the 2023–2027 Presidential, National Assembly and State House of Assembly election cycle.

Mayaki, who announced the appointment in a message to his followers and supporters across social media, said he understood the responsibility attached to the role and would approach the assignment as more than a publicity exercise.

According to him, the focus of the Media Directorate would be to ensure that the people of Edo State have access to accurate and credible information about the party’s campaigns, programmes, achievements, positions and issues affecting the state.

He said the directorate would adopt a clear and responsible communication strategy, including responding to legitimate questions, addressing misinformation with verifiable facts and engaging the public with openness and respect.

Mayaki further pledged to deploy his experience and work with relevant party structures to ensure that the APC’s message reaches voters across the state, including through traditional, electronic and social media platforms.

He said the party would make its case to the electorate using facts and evidence, while presenting its programmes and candidates in a simple and accessible manner to different demographic groups.

The newly appointed media chief also stressed the importance of collaboration, noting that the Media Directorate would work closely with other directorates, committees, sub-committees and special committees of the party towards achieving its objectives.

Mayaki expressed appreciation to the leadership of the APC in Edo State for the confidence reposed in him, particularly acknowledging the state governor, the deputy governor, the party chairman and deputy chairman, as well as National Leader Senator Adams Oshiomhole, Director-General Senator Matthew Urhoghide, members of the Advisory Council and other party leaders.

He also appealed to journalists and media practitioners across print, electronic and social media platforms, including colleagues in Lagos, Abuja and other parts of the world, to support the communication effort whenever their cooperation is required.

Mayaki said he was prepared to give the assignment his full commitment, emphasising that effective communication would be central to presenting the party’s message and engaging the electorate during the election cycle.
