The Edo Central City Boy Movement has commenced strategic grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general elections, with the Senatorial Coordinator, Engr. Paul Ogedegbe, holding a crucial meeting with Local Government Area (LGA) coordinators at the City Boy Movement State Headquarters in Benin City.

The meeting, which brought together coordinators from the various Local Government Areas within the Senatorial District, focused on organisational preparedness, grassroots engagement, effective coordination and the need to establish a strong and functional mobilisation network ahead of the 2027 electoral cycle.

Engr. Paul Ogedegbe, while engaging the coordinators, emphasised the importance of unity, discipline, effective communication and sustained grassroots interaction in building a movement capable of reaching communities at the ward and polling-unit levels.

The meeting also provided an opportunity for the LGA coordinators to review their respective structures, identify areas requiring further strengthening and develop strategies for deeper engagement with the people ahead of the general elections.

The Edo Central City Boy Movement is expected to intensify its activities in the coming months, with its coordinators tasked with ensuring that the movement’s presence extends beyond political meetings to sustained grassroots contact and mobilisation.

The renewed mobilisation comes against the backdrop of Governor Monday Okpebholo’s repeated commitment to deliver 2.5 million votes from Edo State to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election. The governor has linked the target to grassroots mobilisation and the performance of his administration, while also urging newly inaugurated local government chairmen to contribute towards achieving the target.

Speaking with newsmen after the meeting, the Esan Central Coordinator of the Edo Central City Boy Movement, Hon. Farouk Ehimegbe, expressed confidence in the readiness of the movement to commence sustained grassroots activities across Esan Central Local Government Area.

Ehimegbe said the meeting had further reinforced the commitment of coordinators to work together, strengthen the movement’s grassroots structures and ensure effective mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general elections.

According to him, the movement is not approaching the 2027 elections as a last-minute political project, but as an organised grassroots structure that will continue to engage the people, listen to their concerns and communicate the objectives of the movement across communities.

He stressed the importance of translating the movement’s structure into visible grassroots presence, noting that the coordinators would work assiduously to ensure that every ward and community is adequately covered.

Ehimegbe further stated that the movement would contribute its quota towards consolidating the political support base of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo Central and supporting the broader objective of mobilising votes for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027.

He said the 2.5-million-vote commitment made by Governor Okpebholo represents a major mobilisation objective that requires strategic planning, teamwork and consistent engagement at the grassroots.

The Esan Central coordinator maintained that the task ahead demands collective responsibility, adding that the movement would continue to strengthen its structures and mobilise its members towards the 2027 elections.

He also called on members and coordinators to remain united, focused and committed to the movement’s objectives, stressing that effective grassroots mobilisation would be central to translating political support into electoral participation.

The meeting therefore marks another step in the unfolding political mobilisation in Edo Central, as the Edo Central City Boy Movement positions its coordinators for sustained engagement ahead of the 2027 general elections.
