The Chairman, Board of Trustees of the Late Augustus Akhabue Aikhomu Foundation (LAAAF), Chief Dr. Leemon A. Ikpea, CON, FNSE, has, on behalf of the Board of Trustees, management and members of the Foundation, felicitated His Excellency, Sir Chief (Dr.) Gabriel Osawaru Igbinedion, CFR, the Esama of Benin Kingdom, on the occasion of his 92nd birthday anniversary.
In a statement personally signed by Chief Dr. Leemon A. Ikpea and made available to newsmen through the Foundation Secretary, ESV Ambassador Tony Okonigene, the LAAAF Chairman described the Esama as a towering icon of enterprise, visionary leadership, philanthropy and service to humanity.
Chief Dr. Ikpea noted that at 92, the Esama’s remarkable journey from humble beginnings to becoming one of Nigeria’s most respected business leaders remains an enduring inspiration to generations.
He commended Chief Igbinedion’s pioneering contributions to Nigeria’s business and economic development, particularly his investments across aviation, banking, broadcasting, real estate, hospitality, oil and gas, solid minerals and education.
According to him, the establishment of Igbinedion University, Okada, Nigeria’s first private university, stands as one of the Esama’s most enduring contributions to human capital development and education, while his pioneering ventures in aviation and broadcasting further demonstrate his exceptional entrepreneurial vision.
Chief Dr. Ikpea also acknowledged the Esama’s longstanding commitment to philanthropy, community development, education, healthcare and the empowerment of individuals and communities, describing his life as a testament to the power of vision, courage, enterprise and generosity.
He said the Esama’s legacy transcends business, noting that his contributions have continued to inspire people within Edo State and across Nigeria.
The LAAAF Chairman prayed Almighty God to continue to preserve the Esama in good health, strength, wisdom and peace, while granting him many more years of fulfilment and impactful service to humanity.
He further prayed that the years ahead would be filled with greater joy, divine favour and renewed strength to continue to serve as an inspiration to younger generations.
