BENIN CITY — Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, on Thursday, August 20, 2026, chaired a meeting of the Edo State Executive Council, where key issues affecting the state were reviewed and strategic decisions taken towards advancing the administration’s development agenda.
The meeting focused on critical sectors of the state’s economy and social development, with particular attention to strengthening security, improving healthcare delivery, expanding infrastructure, advancing agriculture, enhancing education and human capital development, as well as promoting justice, accountability and good governance.
The deliberations formed part of the administration’s continued efforts to translate its policy priorities into practical programmes and measurable outcomes that directly improve the welfare and living conditions of residents across Edo State.
Governor Okpebholo said the administration remains focused on delivering tangible results, stressing that every decision of government must ultimately contribute to creating a safer, more prosperous and sustainable Edo State.
According to the governor, the government’s development priorities are anchored on the need to create an environment where residents can live in safety, access essential services, pursue economic opportunities and build better futures for themselves and their families.
The administration has consistently positioned practical governance and service delivery at the centre of its development strategy, with the state government identifying security, infrastructure, healthcare, education, agriculture and human capital development as key pillars of its agenda.
Governor Okpebholo reaffirmed that his administration would continue to operate with determination, accountability and a clear sense of purpose, while ensuring that government policies and decisions remain responsive to the needs and aspirations of Edo people.
He said the government would sustain its efforts to strengthen institutions, improve public services and create the conditions necessary for inclusive and sustainable development across the state.
The governor further assured residents that the administration would remain committed to fulfilling the promises made to the people, emphasizing that governance must be measured by its impact on the lives of citizens.
The Edo State Executive Council serves as the state’s principal policy-making body, bringing together the governor, deputy governor and commissioners responsible for the various ministries and portfolios of government.
