The Edo State Government House Chapel has commenced a seven-day prayer and fasting spiritual exercise aimed at seeking divine protection, wisdom, peace and continued prosperity for Edo State, Governor Monday Okpebholo, his administration and the people of the state.

The spiritual exercise, which began on Monday, August 10, 2026, will run through Sunday, August 16, 2026, daily from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Themed “There Shall Not Be Loss”, with scriptural references drawn from Acts 27:22, Deuteronomy 33:6 and Isaiah 28:18, the programme calls for fervent prayers, unity and spiritual intercession for the preservation and wellbeing of the state.

In an invitation signed by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Religious Matters and Chaplain of the Edo State Government House Chapel, Apostle (Dr.) Sule Faraday Azekhumen, JP, religious groups, ministers, clergymen, members of the Government House Chapel, government functionaries and civil servants were urged to participate actively in the spiritual exercise.

According to the organisers, the prayer and fasting programme is particularly focused on seeking God’s protection over Governor Monday Okpebholo, his working team and the good people of Edo State, while praying for divine wisdom, preservation, peace, victory and sustainable progress in the state.

The organisers also anchored the exercise on the assurance contained in Psalm 121:8: “The Lord shall preserve his going out and his coming in.”

The seven-day programme is expected to provide an opportunity for participants across religious and government circles to unite in faith and intercession, seeking divine guidance and protection for the leadership and people of Edo State.

The organisers, however, issued a health advisory urging individuals who are unable to undertake physical fasting for medical or health reasons not to participate in the fasting aspect of the exercise. Such persons were encouraged to join in the prayers and spiritual intercession according to their individual strength and medical needs.

The spiritual exercise underscores the organisers’ call for collective prayer for divine preservation, stability and prosperity in Edo State.
