The Ikpea Humanitarian Foundation has once again demonstrated its commitment to humanitarian service by intervening in the medical crisis of Mrs. Mercy Akhigbe, a diabetic patient from Emuhi, Ekpoma, in Esan West Local Government Area of Edo State, whose deteriorating foot and toe condition required urgent medical attention at the Irrua Specialist Teaching Hospital (ISTH).
The timely intervention of the foundation, under the leadership of its President and Founder, Distinguished Senator Joseph Igiagbe Ikpea, provided the much-needed support for Mrs. Akhigbe to access the necessary medical care, offering her renewed hope at a critical moment.
The intervention followed an appeal for assistance, which received a swift response from Senator Ikpea through the Ikpea Humanitarian Foundation.
Speaking on behalf of the team, the Foundation’s Manager and Team Leader, Miss Shiedu Hassana, said the organisation would continue to seek ways to put smiles on the faces of indigent and vulnerable members of society.
She commended Senator Ikpea for his consistent commitment to humanitarian causes, describing his intervention in Mrs. Akhigbe’s case as another demonstration of his willingness to respond to the needs of people facing difficult circumstances.
According to her, the foundation’s humanitarian mission is driven by the desire to reach people who may otherwise be unable to afford critical assistance, particularly when their lives and wellbeing are at stake.
Also speaking to journalists, Hon. Farouk Ehimegbe, who was part of the team that followed up on the intervention, expressed appreciation to the Ikpea Humanitarian Foundation for its sustained humanitarian activities.
Ehimegbe commended Senator Ikpea for allowing himself to be used as an instrument to reach the needy and less privileged in society, stressing that the foundation’s interventions demonstrate the importance of compassionate leadership and practical humanitarian service.
He noted that at a time when many vulnerable families struggle to meet essential needs, interventions such as that provided to Mrs. Akhigbe offer not only material assistance but also hope and reassurance to people going through difficult circumstances.
Members of Mrs. Akhigbe’s family, visibly grateful for the intervention, expressed profound appreciation to Senator Ikpea and the members of the Ikpea Humanitarian Foundation for coming to their aid when it mattered most.
The family poured heartfelt prayers and gratitude on the Senator and the foundation team, praying that God would continue to strengthen, bless and reward them for their compassion, generosity and commitment to improving the lives of vulnerable people in society.
For the Akhigbe family, the intervention was more than financial or medical assistance.
