Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has called on Edo indigenes residing in Osun State to throw their weight behind the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO), in the August 15, 2026, governorship election.
Speaking on Wednesday during an APC campaign rally held at the party’s secretariat in Osogbo, Governor Okpebholo described Oyebamiji as a competent and visionary leader with the capacity to deliver quality infrastructure, strengthen the education sector, and stimulate sustainable economic growth across Osun State.
The governor expressed confidence that the APC flag bearer possesses the leadership qualities required to replicate the developmental strides currently being recorded under the APC-led administration in Edo State.
Addressing party supporters, Okpebholo urged Osun voters to seize the opportunity presented by the election to embrace progress by electing a leader committed to delivering durable infrastructure and improving the quality of life of the people.
According to him, Oyebamiji would prioritise the construction of long-lasting roads and other critical public infrastructure capable of supporting economic development and enhancing the well-being of residents.
“This is the man that stands for the development of this state. This is the man that will develop your schools. This man will construct your roads. He will give you roads with concrete pavement—roads that will last for 80 years and above,” the governor said.
He further stressed that the election represents a defining moment for Osun State, urging residents to choose a leader who would accelerate development and unlock greater prosperity.
“The reality of today is someone that will bring prosperity to this land. The time for us to call for progress into this state is now. We cannot wait for tomorrow. This is the best man that will do the job,” he added.
Governor Okpebholo also encouraged voters to support a candidate capable of prudently utilising the resources being made available to states by the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to drive meaningful development.
“We must vote for someone who will use the resources that Mr. President has made available for states to develop the states,” he stated.
Also speaking at the rally, Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo, appealed to the people of Osun State to vote massively for the APC and its governorship candidate, saying such a victory would reaffirm the state’s support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the party’s progressive agenda.
According to Governor Ododo, electing the APC candidate would serve as a demonstration of appreciation for the developmental initiatives of the Tinubu administration.
The Director-General of the APC Campaign Council in Osun State welcomed the visiting governors and expressed appreciation for their support. He maintained that the developmental achievements recorded under APC administrations in Edo and Kogi States provide a clear indication of what Osun stands to gain if Oyebamiji emerges victorious at the polls.
The rally also featured addresses by Edo State APC Chairman, Jarrett Tenebe, and the party’s Deputy Chairman, Sylvester Aigboboh, who appealed to Edo indigenes resident in Osun State, speaking in their native dialects, to support the APC candidate in the forthcoming election.
The campaign event attracted APC leaders and supporters from Edo, Kogi, Ondo, and Osun States, who reaffirmed their commitment to working collectively to secure victory for the party in the August 15 governorship poll.
The details of the governor’s campaign engagement were made available in a statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the Edo State Governor, Dr. Patrick Akhere Ebojele.
