The Special Adviser to the Edo State Governor on Public Affairs and Media, Hon. Haruna Braimoh, has strongly condemned what he described as the reckless, unfounded, and politically motivated allegation made by suspended factional Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Publicity Secretary, Mr. Bob Manuel Umoru, accusing Governor Monday Okpebholo of offering him ₦500 million to stop criticizing the administration.

Braimoh dismissed the allegation in its entirety, describing it as a deliberate fabrication designed to deceive the public, attract media attention, and create unnecessary political tension in Edo State. He maintained that the claim lacks any factual basis, credible evidence, or logical foundation, insisting that it exists solely in the imagination of its author.

According to him, it is regrettable that an individual seeking political relevance would resort to sensational allegations capable of misleading the public and undermining democratic discourse. He stated that responsible public communication demands honesty, evidence, and accountability rather than inflammatory rhetoric and manufactured controversies.

Braimoh stressed that Governor Monday Okpebholo remains fully focused on delivering purposeful leadership and implementing policies that directly improve the lives of Edo people. He noted that the administration’s growing record of achievements in infrastructure, security, healthcare, education, agriculture, youth empowerment, and economic development speaks louder than political propaganda.

He further argued that it is both irrational and implausible to suggest that a Governor committed to rebuilding Edo State would devote time or public resources to negotiating with political critics through financial inducements. He emphasized that the Okpebholo administration is guided by transparency, accountability, and respect for democratic principles, not by intimidation or inducement.

The Special Adviser cautioned against the continued circulation of allegations presented without evidence, warning that public figures have a responsibility to ensure that their statements are factual and do not unnecessarily inflame the political environment. He reaffirmed that while freedom of expression is guaranteed in a democratic society, it must be exercised responsibly and within the bounds of truth and the law.

Braimoh therefore urged Edo residents and the general public to disregard what he described as a baseless and misleading narrative, encouraging citizens instead to judge the administration by its policies, projects, and measurable impact across the state.

He reaffirmed that Governor Monday Okpebholo remains undistracted by political theatrics and is committed to consolidating the SHINE Agenda through sustainable development, improved security, economic growth, and people-centred governance.
