Edo Government upgrades EBS with new transmitter, expands broadcast access

The Edo State Government has strengthened the broadcasting capacity of the Edo Broadcasting Service (EBS) with the procurement and installation of a new terrestrial television transmitter aimed at improving signal coverage, picture quality and uninterrupted service delivery across the state.

In a statement issued on Sunday by the Acting Managing Director of EBS, Festus Alenkhe, the station announced that the state-of-the-art transmitter was procured by the Governor of Edo State, Senator Monday Okpebholo, as part of efforts to modernise the state’s public broadcasting infrastructure.

According to the statement, the newly installed transmitter is equipped with an Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) and other critical support components designed to ensure continuous transmission and minimise service disruptions.

The installation, carried out by a team of internal and external engineers, has been completed successfully, with EBS Television now broadcasting on Channel 45 UHF, offering viewers improved signal strength, clearer picture quality and enhanced audio output.

To enable wider access, the station urged viewers using terrestrial television to rescan their television sets to receive the upgraded signal. EBS is also available on GOtv Channel 141, StarTimes Channel 113, the Free TV mobile application, its official website, and across major digital platforms including YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, X, Snapchat and TikTok under the handle @ebsbenin.

As part of its post-installation evaluation, EBS appealed to residents across Edo State to provide feedback on signal reception in their respective locations to assist the station in optimising coverage and service quality.

The management expressed appreciation to Governor Monday Okpebholo for what it described as a significant investment in strengthening public broadcasting in Edo State, reaffirming its commitment to delivering quality programming, timely news and reliable information to viewers within and beyond the state.
