Former governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, has accepted the outcome of the party’s Edo South Senatorial District primary election, urging members and supporters to put aside personal interests and unite behind the party as it prepares for the 2027 general election.
In a statement issued on Monday, July 13, 2026, Ize-Iyamu expressed gratitude to party leaders, members, supporters, women, youths, grassroots mobilisers, and well-wishers within Nigeria and the diaspora for their unwavering support throughout his senatorial aspiration.
Describing the APC as a platform founded on service, sacrifice, discipline, and collective responsibility, he said the conclusion of the party’s democratic process marked the beginning of a new phase that requires reconciliation, unity, and a renewed commitment to the progress of Edo South Senatorial District.
He acknowledged that the party had successfully concluded its primary election and produced a candidate, stressing that he accepted the outcome in good faith and appealed to his supporters to do likewise.
According to him, political contests should never weaken the shared vision of building a stronger party and delivering quality representation to the people. He noted that while elections naturally produce differing preferences, the overriding objective must remain the success of the APC and the advancement of Edo State.
Ize-Iyamu also conveyed special appreciation to Edo South indigenes in the diaspora for their overwhelming support, assuring them of his continued commitment to the growth, development, and prosperity of the senatorial district. He urged his supporters across all divides to remain peaceful, reject actions capable of creating disunity, and continue to uphold the values that have long distinguished the people of Edo South.
Calling for reconciliation among party stakeholders, he emphasized that the responsibility of serving the people is greater than individual political ambitions. He reaffirmed his readiness to work with party leaders, stakeholders, and members to strengthen the APC, mobilise support for its candidates, secure victory in the general election, and promote sustainable development across Edo South.
He further encouraged members to put the primary election behind them and focus on building a stronger and more united political family capable of delivering meaningful progress for the people.
Ize-Iyamu concluded by thanking his supporters for their loyalty, prayers, and steadfast commitment throughout the exercise, expressing confidence that history would ultimately remember the collective achievements of a united APC rather than the contests that preceded them.
He prayed for the continued progress of the All Progressives Congress, Edo South Senatorial District, Edo State, and the Federal Republic of Nigeria, while reaffirming his enduring commitment to the party’s ideals and the service of the people.
