Edo people, this is not propaganda. This is the record so far.
While others debate insecurity on TV, Governor Monday Okpebholo went to work and reconstituted the Edo State Security Corps. He restructured and strengthened the corps because the old system was failing our communities. Today we have better coordination and local response where it matters most.
The Governor did not stop there. He created the Edo State Special Security Squad Against Cultism and Kidnapping, a dedicated unit with one mission: crush the cultists and kidnappers terrorizing our streets. He named the enemy and deployed men to confront it.
To fight crime, you need mobility. Governor Okpebholo acquired and distributed 400 motorcycles and 80 Hilux vans to security agencies across Edo State, updated from the initial 1,000 motorcycles. These are not promises on paper. The equipment is on ground, giving our operatives the speed for rapid response.
For emergencies, the Constitution of the Public Safety Response Team means Edo now has a rapid response unit standing by. When threats arise, government moves.
The results are already showing. A major mop-up operation has recovered over 7,000 illegal firearms across the state. That is over 7,000 weapons that will never be used to rob, kidnap, or kill an Edo son or daughter.
Manpower is critical, and 2,500 Security Corps Officers have been recruited and inaugurated into the Edo State Security Corps. That is 2,500 trained officers now absorbed, active, and protecting our communities. Jobs for our youth, safety for our families.
And because enforcement needs law, Governor Okpebholo signed into effect a stronger Anti-Cultism Law. Tougher penalties. Real legal backing. The days of cultists walking free are over.
This is what happens when a Governor treats security as priority number one. No long grammar. No blame game. Just structure, equipment, personnel, and the law.
To those saying nothing is being done, here are the receipts. To every Edo man and woman, share this scorecard. Let the facts drown the noise.
Governor Okpebholo promised to secure Edo. He is delivering.
