APC Ward 6 in Esan West Suspends Rep. Marcus Onobun, Ten Others Over Alleged Anti-Party Activities

Urbanscoopnews reporting

The leadership and members of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Ward 6, Iruekpen in Esan West Local Government Area of Edo State, have announced the indefinite suspension of the member representing Esan West, Esan Central and Igueben Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Marcus Onobun, alongside ten other party members over allegations bordering on insubordination, gross misconduct, and anti-party activities.

The decision was reached during an emergency meeting of party executives and stakeholders held on May 18, 2026, in Iruekpen, where members unanimously resolved to impose the suspension with immediate effect.

According to the statement issued by the ward leadership, the suspended federal lawmaker was accused of actions allegedly considered detrimental to the unity and constitutional framework of the party within the constituency and the state chapter of the APC.

The party further alleged that the lawmaker conducted what it described as a parallel primary election exercise at his private residence on May 16, 2026, contrary to the officially designated venue approved by the party for the conduct of primaries across the local government areas of Edo State.

Ward executives stated that the action was viewed as a direct violation of party procedures and internal regulations guiding the conduct of party primaries.

The statement also alleged that despite reportedly refusing to participate in the officially recognized primary process, the federal lawmaker subsequently declared himself winner of the exercise, a development party leaders described as an act capable of creating division and instability within the APC structure in Esan West, Esan Central, and Igueben Federal Constituency.

Other party members suspended alongside the lawmaker include Hon. Osagie Aikhonmu, Hon. Odion Akhigbe, Mrs. Anna Azaka, Odegua Oyailo, Happy Omoike, Mrs. Helen Aihebholoria, Mrs. Blessing Ogbebor, Mrs. Caro Egbodion, Mrs. Odion Okedi, and Mr. Solomon Irabor.

The ward leadership maintained that the disciplinary action followed what it described as extensive consultations and investigations carried out in line with the constitution and disciplinary provisions of the All Progressives Congress.

Signatories to the suspension resolution included ward executives and principal officers of APC Ward 6, led by Chairman Justice Ogala Osayemen, alongside other executive members and stakeholders of the party in Iruekpen Ward 6.

The suspension, according to the party executives, takes immediate effect pending further directives from the appropriate organs of the party in Edo State.
