Urbanscoopnews reporting

Senator Joseph Igiagbe Ikpea on Tuesday paid a courtesy visit to the State Working Committee of the All Progressives Congress in Edo State to formally intimate the party leadership of his official declaration to contest for the Edo Central Senatorial seat.

The meeting, which took place at the party’s state secretariat along Ikpokpan GRA, Benin City, was attended by members of the APC State Working Committee and other party executives who warmly received the senator and his entourage.

During the engagement, discussions centered on party unity, internal cohesion, grassroots mobilization, and the need for members and aspirants to continue working collectively towards strengthening the APC ahead of future political activities in the state. Senator Ikpea also used the opportunity to appreciate the party leadership for maintaining stability within the party and providing an enabling environment for democratic consultations and engagements among party faithful.

He commended the leadership of the Edo State APC under the Chairman, Jarret Tenebe, for what he described as steadfast commitment to the growth and progress of the party across the state.

Speaking with journalists shortly after the meeting, Senator Ikpea explained that his visit to the party secretariat was to officially inform the State Working Committee of his declaration to run for the Senate and also seek the party leadership’s permission in line with established party tradition.

According to him, it is customary for every intending aspirant on the platform of the APC to first consult and obtain the consent and blessing of the party leadership before making an official declaration.

The senator stated that he had fulfilled that obligation and expressed satisfaction over the support, encouragement, and permission granted to him by the party leadership.

Senator Ikpea further reaffirmed his commitment to purposeful representation, party unity, and continued support for the growth and progress of the APC in Edo Central Senatorial District and the state at large.
