Prominent political analyst, renowned veteran journalist, and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, John Mayaki, has called on all aspirants within the party in Edo State to place party unity, discipline, and collective interest above personal political ambition ahead of forthcoming electoral contests.

Mayaki, in a strongly worded advisory message to party faithful and aspirants, stressed that loyalty to party leadership and adherence to internal directives remain fundamental principles for sustaining the strength and dominance of the APC across the country.
According to him, whenever a directive is issued by recognized party leaders concerning the political direction of the party, members and aspirants have a responsibility to align with such decisions in the broader interest of unity and electoral success.
“When you get the call from your leader, or when the message comes concerning the direction of the party, there is only one thing to do — obey. Step down and support the party,” Mayaki stated.
The APC stalwart pointed to the political culture in Lagos State as a model worthy of emulation, noting that the enduring dominance and stability of the party in the state were built on discipline, sacrifice, and respect for party supremacy.
Drawing comparisons with Lagos politics, Mayaki observed that many aspirants in the state have, over the years, willingly stepped aside for consensus arrangements and strategic party decisions without creating internal crises or divisions. He argued that such political maturity has contributed significantly to the party’s electoral consistency and organizational strength.
He further warned that excessive ambition, political bitterness, and resistance to party directives often weaken political parties from within and create openings for opposition forces to exploit.
Mayaki therefore urged APC aspirants in Edo State to embrace consultation, dialogue, compromise, and loyalty to constituted authority, insisting that no individual ambition should supersede the collective goals of the party.
He maintained that political leadership requires patience and long-term commitment, adding that those who make sacrifices for party unity are often remembered and rewarded in the future.
The political analyst also appealed to party stakeholders to continue fostering inclusiveness, fairness, and transparent engagement among aspirants to sustain confidence within the APC family in Edo State.
Mayaki reaffirmed that party cohesion and unwavering commitment to collective decisions remain critical to the continued growth and electoral success of the APC in Edo State and beyond.
