The decision was reached during a well-attended enlarged ward meeting held on May 3, 2026, in Amahor. The gathering brought together party leaders, ward executives, past and present councillors, and a broad spectrum of party faithful, all united in charting a cohesive path forward for the party within the ward and beyond.

The meeting focused on strengthening party unity in Ward 8, affirming unwavering support for the APC leadership in Igueben LGA, and consolidating backing for Engr. Ayemere’s candidacy ahead of the forthcoming elections.

In his opening remarks, the Ward Chairman, Hon. Monday Oghae, welcomed attendees and commended members for their commitment and active participation despite demanding schedules. He expressed appreciation for the collective effort that ensured the success of the recently concluded local government primary, which produced Hon. Endurance Azamegbe (popularly known as Paragon) as the APC chairmanship candidate.

Hon. Oghae urged members to remain aligned with party decisions, emphasizing unity and discipline as critical drivers for sustained progress. He also formally announced a leadership update within the ward, identifying Hon. Toju as the new Number One leader of Ward 8 Amahor/Ugun, and called on members to extend full cooperation to the new leadership for the continued advancement of the ward.

In a significant show of party cohesion, Hon. Charles Enahonna, an EDHA aspirant from Ward 8, declared his full support for Engr. Ayemere. He announced the collapse of his political structure in deference to the party’s decision, underscoring his commitment to sportsmanship and collective victory.

The highlight of the meeting was the unanimous passage of a vote of confidence on the APC leadership in Igueben LGA, led by Rt. Hon. Ephraim Aluebhose, JP, alongside the Local Government Party Chairman, Hon. Christopher Eni. Members commended their leadership for what was described as wisdom and strategic direction in steering the affairs of the party at both local and state levels.

Building on this momentum, Ward 8 members unanimously endorsed Engr. Obehi Ayodeji Ayemere as the APC flag bearer for the Edo State House of Assembly, reaffirming their readiness to mobilize grassroots support to secure victory in the upcoming election.

Further deliberations addressed internal party strengthening at the ward level. The Ward Secretary, Hon. Okosun Abel, appealed to party faithful—particularly political appointees—to prioritize attendance at ward meetings and provide financial support to sustain party activities. He stressed that grassroots engagement remains the backbone of party success.

The ward councillor also emphasized the importance of continuous political education, noting the need to keep members informed about evolving developments within the party structure.

Infrastructure concerns were not left out, as the condition of the Amahor/Ugun Road was raised and duly acknowledged by the ward leadership, signaling responsiveness to community needs.

An apology for absence was conveyed on behalf of Hon. Christopher Eni, who was engaged in official state assignments at the time of the meeting.

The meeting concluded with a resolution to reconvene in a fortnight at Ugun Town, reinforcing the ward’s commitment to sustained engagement and strategic coordination.

The outcome of the Ward 8 meeting reflects a consolidated front within the APC in Igueben LGA, marked by unity, disciplined leadership, and a clear electoral direction anchored on the candidacy of Engr. Obehi Ayemere.
