According to a statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the Edo State Governor, Dr. Patrick Akhere Ebojele, the Ooni said the governors’ modest disposition and accessibility had set them apart from many of their contemporaries, noting that despite occupying high public offices, they had remained closely connected to ordinary Nigerians.

“We are honoured and privileged to receive the two governors in the palace. The entire Yoruba race is delighted to have governors with such rare characteristics,” the monarch said.

The Ooni described humility as one of the greatest virtues of leadership, adding that Governors Okpebholo and Ododo had consistently demonstrated commendable simplicity, approachability and genuine concern for the people.

“These two governors are among the most humble leaders we have produced in Nigeria. Everything about them reflects humility and simplicity. They are easy-going, amiable and do not allow the prestige of their offices to separate them from ordinary people. They remain down-to-earth and well connected to the grassroots,” he stated.

The foremost traditional ruler urged Governor Okpebholo to remain steadfast in his leadership philosophy, noting that his conduct exemplifies the cherished Yoruba ideal of Omoluabi.

“We are here to celebrate you. Beyond politics, we are celebrating the values of Omoluabi par excellence. Your simplicity and your approach to leadership are admirable. Continue on this path because it is the best way to serve the people and leave a lasting legacy,” the Ooni added.

Responding on behalf of the two governors, Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo disclosed that Governor Okpebholo had requested him to speak during the visit. He expressed appreciation to the Ooni for his unwavering commitment to promoting peace, unity and stability in Osun State and across Nigeria.

“We are here to thank Your Majesty for your consistent role in fostering peace, not only in Osun State but throughout the country. Your leadership continues to strengthen unity and harmonious coexistence among our people,” Ododo said.

He explained that the visit was aimed at reinforcing the bonds of friendship among Nigerians while deepening collaboration with traditional institutions as indispensable partners in nation-building.

The visit further underscored Governor Okpebholo’s commitment to sustained engagement with traditional rulers as key stakeholders in advancing peace, social cohesion, inclusive governance and sustainable development across the country, the statement by Dr. Patrick Akhere Ebojele noted.
