Ekpoma, Edo State — Esan News Magazine International has issued a strongly worded statement expressing support for the leadership of Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma (AAUE), while criticizing what it described as a sustained campaign aimed at discrediting the institution’s Vice Chancellor.
In the statement, the publication accused Bobmanuel Omobuhe Umoru of engaging in repeated public attacks against the Vice Chancellor and the university’s management, arguing that he holds no official position within the institution to warrant what it characterized as persistent interference in its administration.
According to the publication, AAUE operates through established statutory structures, including its Governing Council and the Office of the Visitor to the University, and any concerns regarding the institution should be addressed through those recognised channels rather than through public campaigns.
Esan News Magazine further alleged that the criticisms directed at the Vice Chancellor were part of a deliberate effort to undermine the university’s leadership. The publication, however, did not provide evidence to support those allegations.
The statement praised the Governing Council and the university’s management, saying ongoing efforts are focused on strengthening academic standards, improving infrastructure, enhancing staff welfare, and sustaining stability within the institution.
It also expressed confidence in the appointment of the Vice Chancellor, noting that the Edo State Government entrusted her with the responsibility of advancing the university’s development and maintaining academic excellence.
Calling on stakeholders, alumni, students, and members of the Esan community, both at home and in the diaspora, the publication urged continued support for the university’s governing authorities and encouraged all interested parties to promote peace, unity, and institutional progress.
Esan News Magazine concluded by urging that the Governing Council and the university’s management be allowed to perform their responsibilities without undue interference, stressing that the long-term interest of Ambrose Alli University should remain the overriding priority.
