Rotary Club of Irrua Frontline to Hold Maternal and Child Health Outreach Across Three Communities

The Rotary Club of Irrua Frontline, in collaboration with the Rotaract Club of Irrua Frontline, has concluded arrangements to organize a comprehensive Maternal and Child Health Outreach aimed at improving the health and well-being of mothers and children across selected communities in Esan Central Local Government Area of Edo State.

The outreach, scheduled for Thursday, July 30, 2026, will commence at 10:00 a.m. simultaneously at Health Centre, Ibore; Health Centre, Ugbegun; and Health Centre, Uzogholo Ewu.

Speaking with Urbanscoopnews, the President of the Rotary Club of Irrua Frontline, Rotarian Fidelis Edokpa, said the initiative reflects Rotary’s unwavering commitment to promoting healthier families and stronger communities through impactful humanitarian service.

According to him, the outreach is designed to provide expectant mothers and caregivers with practical health support, education, and essential maternal care resources that will contribute to safer pregnancies and healthier childhood development.

He disclosed that activities lined up for the programme include maternal health education on pregnancy care, safe delivery practices, and postnatal care; antenatal and child health screening; growth monitoring; immunization support; nutrition counseling for mothers and children; distribution of prenatal kits; and community engagement sessions focused on promoting safer motherhood.

Edokpa revealed that 100 expectant mothers will receive prenatal kits containing essential items for pregnancy and newborn care, while over 300 people are expected to benefit directly from the outreach. He added that the programme will also record approximately 172 volunteer hours of community service, underscoring the dedication of Rotary and Rotaract members to humanitarian causes.

He noted that maternal and child health remains one of Rotary’s core areas of focus, stressing that access to quality healthcare information and basic medical support can significantly reduce preventable maternal and infant health challenges.

The Rotary President called on pregnant women, nursing mothers, caregivers, and residents of the benefiting communities to take advantage of the free outreach, emphasizing that the programme is open to all eligible beneficiaries.

“Our goal is simple: to give every mother the care she deserves and every child the healthy start they need. Through collaboration and selfless service, we are helping to build healthier families and stronger communities,” Edokpa said.

He reaffirmed the club’s commitment to Rotary’s guiding principle of “Service Above Self,” adding that initiatives such as the Maternal and Child Health Outreach demonstrate how collective action and volunteerism can create lasting impact at the grassroots.

The outreach is being organized under Rotary’s global theme, “Create Lasting Impact,” with the Rotary Club of Irrua Frontline and the Rotaract Club of Irrua Frontline united by their shared commitment to community service under the banner, “Together We Serve, Together We Impact.”
