Former All Progressives Congress (APC) House of Assembly aspirant for Esan South East Constituency and party stalwart, Hon. Dr. Ernest Iyere Ahamioje, has applauded the Executive Governor of Edo State, Senator Monday Okpebholo, for his humanitarian intervention in support of Edo indigenes recently evacuated from South Africa following xenophobic attacks.

Governor Okpebholo announced a ₦1 million support package for each of the 41 returnees during their reception at the Government House in Benin City. According to the Governor, the financial assistance is intended to help the beneficiaries secure accommodation and begin the process of rebuilding their lives. He also assured the returnees of continued government support through access to business loans to encourage economic reintegration and self-reliance.

Reacting to the Governor’s gesture, Dr. Ahamioje described the intervention as a demonstration of compassionate, people-oriented leadership, noting that the administration continues to place the welfare and dignity of Edo people at the centre of governance.

Dr. Ahamioje reaffirmed his unwavering support for the Governor, whom he described as “Edo’s best Governor ever,” adding that the administration has continued to inspire confidence through its commitment to the wellbeing of the people and the development of the state.

He also expressed pride in Governor Okpebholo’s Esan heritage, stating that Esanland has consistently produced distinguished leaders who have made remarkable contributions to Nigeria’s history. He referenced nationalist Chief Anthony Enahoro, former Vice President Admiral Augustus Aikhomu, and former First Lady Chief Mrs. Stella Obasanjo as notable personalities from the region, describing Governor Okpebholo as another worthy ambassador of Esanland.

Dr. Ahamioje prayed for God’s continued guidance, wisdom, and strength for Governor Okpebholo as he leads Edo State, expressing confidence that the administration will continue to deliver policies and programmes that improve the lives of the people.

He concluded by urging Edo residents to continue supporting the Governor’s vision for a more prosperous, secure, and progressive Edo State.
