Large Crowd of PDP Supporters Welco
Benin City, Edo State – A large crowd of supporters of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Tuesday gathered at Benin Airport to receive the party’s Edo South Senatorial Candidate, Frank Idehen Pax-Osifo, in a show of solidarity and enthusiasm following his arrival in the state.
Party faithful, leaders and supporters from across the Edo South Senatorial District thronged the airport, waving PDP flags, chanting party slogans and expressing optimism about the party’s prospects in the forthcoming senatorial election.
Speaking with journalists shortly after his arrival, Pax-Osifo said his decision to contest for the Edo South Senatorial seat is driven by a desire to serve the people rather than personal ambition.
According to him, the election is about the ordinary people of Edo South—the man and woman striving for a better life, the young people searching for opportunities, the farmers working to feed their communities, and every resident who desires effective and people-centred representation.
The PDP candidate expressed gratitude to the leadership and members of the party for entrusting him with its senatorial ticket, describing the nomination as a great honour and a responsibility he does not take for granted. He pledged to work tirelessly with party leaders, members and supporters to secure victory for the PDP at the polls.
Pax-Osifo further assured the electorate that, if elected, he would be an accessible, inclusive and grassroots-oriented senator who would prioritise consultation, accountability and servant leadership in the discharge of his legislative responsibilities.
While acknowledging that the primary constitutional duties of a senator are lawmaking, representation and oversight, he pledged to sponsor bills and motions aimed at strengthening security, particularly in Edo State, to create a safer environment for farmers to return to their farms without fear. He noted that improving security would contribute significantly to agricultural productivity and enhance food security across the state.
The PDP flag bearer also appealed for unity within the party, urging members to set aside their differences and work together in the collective interest of achieving electoral success. He stressed that only through unity, commitment and sustained grassroots mobilisation can the party realise its vision for Edo South and deliver quality representation to the people.
Following the airport reception, hundreds of enthusiastic party supporters accompanied the PDP candidate in a colourful road procession to the party’s state secretariat in Benin City. The convoy, which attracted widespread public attention, was marked by chants of solidarity, music and jubilant displays by supporters celebrating the party’s flag bearer.
At the PDP Secretariat, Pax-Osifo formally presented his Certificate of Return to the state leadership of the party. He was warmly received by party executives, elders and stakeholders, who congratulated him on his emergence as the party’s candidate and reaffirmed their commitment to working collectively to secure victory in the forthcoming election.
The presentation ceremony was characterised by applause and words of encouragement as party leaders commended the transparent conduct of the party’s nomination process and urged members to remain united and focused on the shared goal of delivering the Edo South Senatorial seat to the PDP.
The reception at both the airport and the party secretariat underscored the growing momentum within the PDP and highlighted the level of support the party’s senatorial candidate continues to enjoy as preparations intensify for the forthcoming election.
