Illegal Ward 1 Meeting Null and Void — APC Esan Central Chairman Rejects Alleged Vote of No Confidence Against Engr. Theophilus Okoh

Kingsley Ohens reporting

The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Esan Central Local Government Area, Hon. Rawlins Ason Ekeoba, popularly known as Oskede, has strongly condemned what he described as an illegal and unauthorized meeting allegedly held at the Ward 1 Party Secretariat on May 27, 2026.

In a statement made available to party stakeholders and members, Hon. Ekeoba dismissed the purported vote of no confidence reportedly passed against Engr. Theophilus Okoh, describing the allegations raised during the meeting as baseless, divisive, and capable of undermining the unity of the party.

The APC chairman expressed concern that certain individuals within the ward were allegedly engaging in activities capable of destabilizing the peaceful and progressive atmosphere currently being promoted within the party under the leadership of the Executive Governor of Edo State, His Excellency, Distinguished Senator Monday Okpebholo.

According to him, it was unfortunate that at a time when the governor was making concerted efforts to foster reconciliation, unity, and inclusiveness across party structures, some individuals were allegedly pursuing personal interests at the expense of party cohesion.

Hon. Ekeoba maintained that no individual or group should place personal ambitions above the collective interest of the APC, warning against actions capable of bringing the image and integrity of the party into disrepute.

He further declared that the meeting in question was “illegal ab initio,” insisting that the convener lacked the constitutional authority and mandate required to summon an official ward meeting. Consequently, he stated that all resolutions and outcomes from the gathering remain null, void, and without effect.

The Esan Central APC chairman also cautioned those allegedly involved in orchestrating what he termed divisive political activities to immediately desist or face disciplinary consequences in accordance with party regulations.

The statement was copied to the Executive Governor of Edo State, Distinguished Senator Monday Okpebholo, and the APC Senatorial Leader, General Cecil Esekhaigbe.

Hon. Ekeoba reiterated the need for party members to remain committed to peace, discipline, unity, and the collective progress of the APC in Esan Central and Edo State at large.
