A prominent APC stakeholder, Solomon Okoduwa, has commended the Secretary to the Edo State Government, Musa Ikhilor Esq., for his exemplary leadership style, selflessness, accessibility, and unwavering dedication to public service, describing him as a key pillar in the ongoing mobilization efforts aimed at strengthening the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Okoduwa made the remarks following a two-day Eid al-Adha gathering hosted by the SSG in Irrua, where community members, the Arewa community, religious leaders, party stakeholders, government officials, and political appointees converged in what many have described as a strategic blend of community engagement and political mobilization.
According to Okoduwa, Ikhilor’s decision to open his home to ordinary citizens during the Sallah celebration demonstrated a rare quality of leadership that places the people at the center of governance.
He noted that by celebrating with neighbors, community leaders, and party faithful, the SSG once again reinforced the principle that effective leadership is rooted in accessibility, inclusiveness, and service to the people.
The gathering, which lasted over 48 hours, transformed Irrua into a focal point of political discussions and grassroots mobilization as leaders of the APC intensified preparations aimed at consolidating support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027 and advancing Governor Monday Okpebholo’s widely discussed “Project 2.5” initiative.
The first phase of the event was marked by an atmosphere of unity and fellowship as Ikhilor hosted members of the Muslim community, residents, and various groups to celebrate Eid al-Adha. The event provided an opportunity for interaction between government officials and citizens while reinforcing the message that governance should remain people-driven and inclusive.
The momentum continued the following day as commissioners, special advisers, senior special assistants, party executives, ward chairmen, political leaders, and other key stakeholders gathered to review ongoing mobilization efforts and discuss strategies for expanding the party’s support base across Edo State.
Addressing the gathering, Ikhilor emphasized the importance of the Continuous Voter Registration exercise and charged party leaders to return to their respective wards and communities to encourage eligible citizens to register and actively participate in the democratic process.
He stressed that voter registration remains fundamental to electoral success and called on APC faithful to sustain grassroots engagement in order to strengthen support for President Tinubu and the party’s development agenda.
Ikhilor expressed confidence in the party’s ability to deliver substantial electoral support for the President in Edo State, noting that ongoing mobilization efforts, combined with the performance of Governor Monday Okpebholo’s administration, have continued to generate widespread goodwill among citizens.
Throughout the gathering, speakers repeatedly pointed to the achievements of the Okpebholo administration as evidence of governance that is making tangible impacts across the state. They cited interventions in food support programmes, infrastructure development, healthcare services, human capacity development, and other initiatives that have reached communities across Edo’s eighteen local government areas.
Speaking on the governor’s performance, Ikhilor attributed the successes recorded so far to Governor Okpebholo’s commitment to delivering the dividends of democracy, stating that the administration remains focused on improving the welfare and living conditions of Edo people.
Several party leaders and government officials who attended the event also commended the SSG for his role in promoting unity within the APC and strengthening the relationship between government and grassroots communities.
Commissioner for Water Resources and Energy, Hon. Felix Akhabue, described Ikhilor as a dependable ally of Governor Okpebholo and a unifying force within the party whose efforts have helped ensure that government policies and programmes effectively reach the people.
Other stakeholders echoed similar sentiments, praising the SSG’s commitment to party development, community engagement, and the successful implementation of government initiatives across the state.
The event attracted an impressive array of political leaders, commissioners, government appointees, party executives, security officials, and community stakeholders, underscoring the growing determination within the APC to consolidate its structures and strengthen its grassroots presence ahead of future elections.
For Solomon Okoduwa, the significance of the gathering extended beyond the Eid celebrations. He described it as a demonstration of the leadership qualities required to sustain political success, noting that leaders who remain connected to the people are better positioned to mobilize support and inspire confidence in government.
As the gathering concluded, party leaders renewed calls for eligible voters across Edo State to take advantage of the Continuous Voter Registration exercise, while reaffirming their commitment to unity, grassroots mobilization, and support for the APC’s developmental agenda.
From the Sallah celebration in Irrua to communities across the state, the message from party stakeholders was clear: sustained engagement with the people, effective governance, and strategic mobilization will remain central to the APC’s preparations as the road to 2027 gradually gathers momentum.
