A group of ward youth leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Esan South East Local Government Area has formally expressed opposition to the alleged third tenure aspiration of Hon. Sunny Ojiezele for the Edo State House of Assembly.
In a letter dated May 4, 2026, and addressed to the Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, the youth leaders stated that their position followed what they described as “extensive consultations” among APC ward youth structures across the local government area.
According to the letter, the youth leaders resolved collectively not to support Ojiezele’s reported bid for another term, citing prevailing political realities within the party and the expectations of grassroots members across the wards in Esan South East.
The signatories emphasized the need for broader stakeholder engagement in the party’s decision-making process, stressing that candidates seeking elective positions should reflect the consensus of party members and grassroots supporters within the local government.
They maintained that strengthening internal unity within the APC structure in Esan South East remained essential to sustaining electoral success in future contests. The youth leaders further noted that party cohesion and inclusiveness would enhance the APC’s chances of achieving its broader political objectives ahead of subsequent elections.
The letter urged Governor Okpebholo to take their position into consideration during ongoing consultations within the party, while reaffirming their commitment to the continued growth and electoral success of the APC in Edo State.
Among those listed as signatories to the letter were Emobon Stanley, Omonkluea Ernst Avalia, Kingsi Aveobore, Godfrey Oboh, John Egwa, Akahomhen Heher, Lucky Iyoha, William Ajonota, and Okolnemen Monday, alongside the APC LGA Youth Leader, Hon. Thaddeus Isikhwanee.
