According to the timetable, the process commenced with the issuance of a notice of election to state chapters on April 20, 2026. The sale of nomination and expression of interest forms is scheduled to run from April 25 to May 2, 2026, at the APC National Secretariat.

The party fixed May 4, 2026, as the deadline for the submission of completed forms and accompanying documentation, after which the screening of aspirants for various offices—including State Houses of Assembly, House of Representatives, Senate, Governorship, and Presidential positions—will take place between May 6 and May 9, 2026.

Publication of screening results is slated for May 11, followed by a window for screening appeals from May 12 to May 13, ensuring due process and transparency within the internal selection mechanism.

Primary elections are scheduled to begin with the presidential primary between May 15 and May 16, 2026. Subsequent primaries for the National Assembly and State Houses of Assembly will hold between May 18 and May 23, while governorship primaries are set for May 25, 2026. Appeals arising from the primaries will be addressed in line with the party’s internal dispute resolution framework.

In terms of financial requirements, the APC outlined a structured fee regime for aspirants across all elective positions. The total cost for participation ranges from ₦6 million for State House of Assembly aspirants to ₦100 million for presidential hopefuls, covering both expression of interest and nomination forms.

Notably, the party introduced concessions aimed at promoting inclusivity, stating that female aspirants, youths, and persons living with disabilities will only be required to purchase expression of interest forms while paying 50 percent of the prescribed nomination fees.

The timetable was endorsed by the APC National Organizing Secretary, , who emphasized that the schedule reflects the party’s commitment to internal democracy, transparency, and alignment with national electoral regulations.

Political analysts note that the early release of the timetable positions the APC to streamline its candidate selection process and minimize pre-election disputes, while also providing aspirants with a clear framework for compliance ahead of the 2027 polls.

The announcement marks a significant step in Nigeria’s electoral calendar, as political parties begin to formalize their strategies and internal processes in preparation for what is expected to be a highly competitive general election cycle.
