Benin City, Nigeria — A frontline aspirant for the Egor/Ikpoba-Okha Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives, Dr. Oghogho Taiye Garrick, has signalled his intention to contest under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), presenting what he described as a long-standing vision anchored on service, empowerment, and sustainable development.
Addressing supporters and residents across the constituency, Dr. Garrick traced the roots of his political aspiration to 2003, when he said he first conceived the ambition to represent the people at the National Assembly. He recalled his initial attempt in 2007, noting that although he sought the party’s nomination at the time, he stepped back in deference to the wishes of party stakeholders and constituents.
According to him, the intervening years have been marked by sustained loyalty to the party and continuous engagement with grassroots development initiatives within the constituency.
Dr. Garrick highlighted his entrepreneurial footprint as a testament to his commitment to economic empowerment, referencing the establishment of Eminence Water and Eminence Fisheries along Siluko Road in Benin City. He explained that the ventures were designed not merely as profit-driven enterprises but as platforms for job creation and small-scale business development, particularly among women and young people.
He further disclosed that his business interests have since expanded into the healthcare and aviation sectors, providing broader opportunities for employment and capacity building. These experiences, he said, have equipped him with the managerial expertise and exposure necessary for effective legislative representation.
Reaffirming his connection to the constituency, Dr. Garrick emphasized that his political ambition is rooted in a deep sense of responsibility to the people of Egor and Ikpoba-Okha, whom he described as central to his personal and professional journey.
Outlining his priorities, the aspirant pledged to focus on improving access to quality healthcare, advancing youth empowerment initiatives, and attracting developmental projects that would stimulate economic growth across the constituency.
He called on party members and delegates to support his bid for the APC ticket, stressing that his candidacy represents a collective aspiration for progress and inclusive prosperity.
“This is not just my journey; it is our journey,” he stated, urging constituents to rally behind his vision to “restore, empower, and prosper” the Egor/Ikpoba-Okha Federal Constituency.
Dr. Garrick expressed confidence in the future of the constituency, affirming his readiness to translate his vision into impactful representation at the National Assembly if given the mandate.
