EASTER CELEBRATION: OKPEBHOLO URGES PRAYERS FOR SUSTAINED INFRASTRUCTURAL DEVELOPMENT IN EDO

Urbanscopnews reporting

Benin City, Nigeria — Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has called on residents of the state to sustain prayers and support for his administration as it intensifies efforts toward accelerated infrastructural development.

The governor made the appeal during the 2026 Easter programme themed “The Risen Christ and the Risen Edo State,” held at the Government House Chapel in Benin City.

Represented by his Special Adviser on Women in Christ, Pastor Aburime-Walter Courage Iziegbe, Governor Okpebholo described the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ as symbolic of renewal, restoration, and transformative progress. He noted that these values underpin the administration’s commitment to both infrastructural advancement and human capital development across the state.

Delivering the governor’s message, Pastor Iziegbe emphasized that the Easter season reflects a “Calvary experience,” reinforcing hope, faith, and victory for the people. She urged citizens to continue offering prayers for the administration, stressing that collective spiritual support would further strengthen governance and development outcomes.

“This is a message of hope, restoration, and grace. The people must continue to pray for the governor and the state, trusting God to lead Edo to greater heights,” she said.

In his remarks, the Chaplain of the Government House Chapel and Special Adviser on Religious Matters, Apostle Sule Faraday Azekhumen, described the Easter celebration as a moment of thanksgiving for progress recorded over the past year. He noted that the theme of the programme reflects a broader vision of renewal and forward movement within the state.

According to him, the administration’s development framework aligns with principles of transformation, emphasizing order, strength, and sustained growth. He added that ongoing initiatives demonstrate a deliberate effort to translate policy direction into measurable outcomes.

Also speaking, the Special Adviser on Communication Strategy and Media Projects, Hon. Godswill Inegbe, reiterated the administration’s commitment to addressing infrastructural gaps. He stated that within 15 months in office, the government has made significant strides across key sectors, with visible development projects spanning the three senatorial districts.

He highlighted the near completion of the Ramat Park flyover as a major milestone, describing it as a legacy project expected to have long-term impact on traffic management and urban mobility in the state.

Delivering the sermon, guest speaker Apostle Favour Mopa-Awom spoke on the theme “He Rose to Break Barriers That You Might Rise,” underscoring the significance of Christ’s resurrection as a source of empowerment and breakthrough for believers. She encouraged the congregation to remain steadfast in faith, noting that challenges are surmountable through spiritual resilience.

The service featured musical ministrations by the Government House Choir and guest minister Cassidy Omoruyi Nelson. Special prayers were also offered for Nigeria, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, national security, peace in Edo State, and divine guidance for the governor and his cabinet.

The Easter programme formed part of activities commemorating the Christian celebration of the resurrection of Jesus Christ, drawing government officials, religious leaders, and members of the public.
