The Governor of Edo State, , has commended members of the Edo State House of Assembly (EDHA) for sustaining a harmonious and productive working relationship with the Executive arm of government, describing the synergy as pivotal to the administration’s achievements within its first year in office.
The Governor gave the commendation while receiving the Speaker of the House, , alongside principal officers and other lawmakers, during an Easter visit to his country residence in Irrua, Esan Central Local Government Area.
Speaking on behalf of the 24-member Assembly, Agbebaku reaffirmed the legislature’s unwavering support for the Okpebholo administration, pledging continued collaboration to ensure the successful implementation of government policies and programmes aimed at fulfilling campaign promises to the people of Edo State.
He commended the Governor for what he described as remarkable strides in governance since assuming office on November 12, 2024, noting that the Assembly remains committed to providing the necessary legislative backing for the administration’s development agenda.
“We are here to celebrate Easter with you and to acknowledge the great work you are doing for Edo people. As a House, we assure you of our full support. Every budget brought before us will receive due consideration and approval to enable the continued implementation of the SHINE agenda for the benefit of our people,” the Speaker stated.
Agbebaku further highlighted key infrastructural milestones, describing the ongoing construction of the state’s first flyover as a historic achievement that will leave a lasting legacy in Edo State.
In his response, Governor Okpebholo expressed appreciation to the lawmakers for fostering unity and cooperation between the Executive and Legislative arms, emphasizing that the cordial relationship has significantly contributed to the administration’s progress, particularly in infrastructure development.
He noted that the peaceful and collaborative environment created by the Assembly has enabled his government to effectively implement policies and deliver on its developmental objectives.
“Since assuming office, the House has created a conducive atmosphere that has allowed this administration to pursue its goals without distraction. The unity between both arms of government has translated into tangible results that are visible to Edo people,” the Governor said.
He urged the lawmakers to sustain the existing synergy, stressing that continued cooperation would further accelerate the pace of development across the state.
The Governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to achieving more in the coming year, underscoring the importance of stability and mutual understanding in governance.
