The Anchor of Edo APC: The Remarkable Rise and Resilient Loyalty of Sylvester Aigboboh

In the competitive arena of Edo State politics, where personal ambition often overrides collective progress, Sylvester Aigboboh stands out as a rare symbol of stability. Widely recognized by his guiding principle, “Party is Supreme,” Aigboboh has evolved from a grassroots organizer into one of the most vital pillars of the All Progressives Congress (APC). His journey is defined by a deep-seated loyalty to the party structure and an uncanny ability to bridge the gap between high-level leadership and the ordinary citizen.

Aigboboh’s influence took a decisive turn in 2022 during a pivotal political gathering in Edo Central. Along with a group of dedicated associates, he pooled resources to purchase the APC senatorial nomination form for Monday Okpebholo, affectionately known as Akpakomiza. Aigboboh recognized that while Okpebholo had spent years supporting the aspirations of others, it was finally his time to lead. This selfless gesture laid the foundation for a political partnership built on mutual respect and shared purpose.

As the Director General of that senatorial campaign, Aigboboh proved his mettle by delivering a resounding victory, leading to Okpebholo’s swearing-in as a Senator in June 2023. His success continued through the 2024 governorship cycle, where Aigboboh was entrusted with the critical role of Director of Finance for the State Campaign Council. His meticulous management of resources and strategic planning were instrumental in securing the governorship for the APC. Following the party’s victory and the subsequent affirmation by the Supreme Court, Aigboboh’s reputation as a “steady hand” was firmly established.

On May 25, 2025, Aigboboh was appointed Deputy Chairman of the Edo State APC, a role that allowed him to further instill his philosophy of party supremacy. To him, this is more than a slogan; it is a conviction that the collective wisdom of the party must always outweigh individual interests. This mindset has been essential in maintaining unity and discipline within the ranks, especially during periods of political transition.

Beyond internal party administration, Aigboboh has become a primary driver of President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda in Edo. Appointed as the State Coordinator of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors in early 2026, he is now tasked with mobilizing support for the 2027 presidential election. His strength lies in his ability to simplify complex government policies, making them relatable and trustworthy to the people of Ileh and the wider Edo community.

Sylvester Aigboboh’s record is a testament to the power of consistency. In an era where political loyalty is often fleeting, he remains a reliable force for organization and grassroots coordination.
