Pick Limited Unveils PIN-Based Delivery Security System to Tackle COD Fraud

Pick Limited has introduced a new PIN-based delivery verification system aimed at tackling Cash-on-Delivery (COD) fraud and enhancing the security of deliveries across its growing logistics network.

The innovation, unveiled by the company’s Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Oshole Ayaghena in Benin City, is expected to strengthen confidence in Nigeria’s e-delivery ecosystem by ensuring that every eligible package is handed over only to its rightful recipient.

Under the new system, every high-value or Cash-on-Delivery order is assigned a unique four-digit PIN, which is sent via SMS to both the sender and the recipient. A delivery can only be completed after the recipient provides the correct PIN, creating a secure digital confirmation of successful handover.

Speaking on the initiative, Ayaghena said the company developed the technology in response to the growing challenge of delivery disputes and fraudulent COD claims, which have continued to affect customers, merchants and dispatch riders.

According to him, the PIN verification feature establishes a transparent and reliable delivery process by confirming that parcels reach the intended recipient before transactions are completed.

He noted that the system has already demonstrated impressive results during its pilot phase in Benin City, where fraudulent COD claims dropped significantly while rider confidence and customer satisfaction improved.

The company disclosed that PIN verification is now mandatory for all Cash-on-Delivery transactions, orders valued above ₦50,000, confidential documents and medical deliveries. Customers can also request PIN protection for any delivery as an added layer of security.
