Ahamioje Declares for Edo Assembly Seat, Engages APC Leaders in Esan South East

Dr. Ernest Iyere Ahamioje has formally declared his intention to contest for a seat in the Edo State House of Assembly, representing Esan South East Constituency, at a well-attended gathering of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ubiaja.

The declaration, held at the APC Party Secretariat, brought together a broad spectrum of party stakeholders, including the Esan South East Local Government APC Chairman, Hon. Goddy Obainoke; Vice Chairman, Hon. Sapare Julius; Collins Aluala; the LGA Woman Leader; and a full complement of ward executives—chairmen, secretaries, women leaders, youth leaders, and other grassroots mobilizers. The delegation of party leaders was led by Barrister Oyedo.

The event featured vibrant displays of solidarity, as supporters turned out in colourful attire, accompanied by music, chants, and coordinated dance steps, underscoring the enthusiasm surrounding Ahamioje’s aspiration.

In his welcome remarks, Hon. Obainoke received the aspirant and his team on behalf of the local government leadership, including Hon. Victor Eboigbe. He commended Ahamioje’s disposition, describing him as “a man with listening ears and genuine passion for service.” However, he emphasized the party’s internal democratic process, noting that no aspirant had yet been endorsed and that the party leadership would, in due course, make a collective decision, after which all members would rally behind the chosen candidate.

Addressing party faithful, Dr. Ahamioje expressed appreciation for the turnout and the opportunity to present his vision. He pledged to run an inclusive and consultative legislative agenda, anchored on regular town hall engagements to ensure that constituents’ voices directly inform policy priorities and representation.

He further committed to championing legislation that promotes the welfare and dignity of the elderly, while also advancing policies that empower women, youths, and persons with disabilities—groups he noted have often been underrepresented in governance frameworks.

Appealing for support, Ahamioje called for unity, prayers, and collective commitment to the progress of the constituency and the party. He also used the platform to commend Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, for what he described as visible developmental strides across the state, particularly in Edo Central and Esan South East.

In his response, Barrister Oyedo, speaking on behalf of ward leaders, appreciated the aspirant for engaging directly with party structures at the grassroots. He urged Ahamioje to prioritize security concerns in his legislative agenda, stressing the need to leverage both local insights and international exposure to address the challenges effectively. He also encouraged the aspirant to deploy his global experience in delivering impactful representation.

The engagement concluded on a solemn note, as party leaders offered prayers for Dr. Ahamioje and his team, seeking divine guidance and success in the political journey ahead.

The declaration marks a significant step in the buildup to the party’s nomination process, as consultations and stakeholder engagements continue across Esan South East.
