YOUTHS ARE AN INTEGRAL PART OF GOVERNANCE- ARC JOSHUA OMOKHODION
The Commissioner for Environment and Sustainability, Arc. Joshua Omokhodion has said the significance of youth in the development of any nation cannot be over emphasized.
Arc. Omokhodion gave this emphasis during a tree planting exercise organized by the State chapter of the National Youth Council of Nigeria in collaboration with the Ministry as part of activities to commemorate the International Youth Day.
Speaking shortly after the tree planting exercise, the Commissioner described the Obaseki led administration as one which is passionate about youths being green ambassadors and is willing to engage them in various spheres of governance by creating the enabling environment for them to contribute their own quota to the development of the State.
Arc. Omokhodion commended the organization for the initiative to plant trees as part of measures to mitigate climate change and to beautify the state, noting that Government has provided opportunities in all the sectors of the economy to support the youth in achieving their dreams as they are of utmost importance to the present administration.
On his part, the Consultant, Parks and Garden Department, TPL Roland Olorogun lauded the exercise, describing it as a right step in the right direction towards actualizing the plans of the government to green and regenerate the environment as a way of addressing the issue of climate change.
Meanwhile, Mr. Moses Agwinede, Chairman National Youth Council of Nigeria, Edo State appreciated the Ministry for providing the necessary logistics in ensuring that their goals were actualized.
The International Youth Day which is celebrated on the 12th of August every year aims at bringing youth matters and concerns to the attention of the international community and celebrating the potentials of youth as partners in the global society.
