The member representing Esan West, Esan Central and Igueben Federal Constituency at the National Assembly, Rt. Hon. Marcus Onobun (KSC), on Sunday, 8th Sept., 2024, yet again distributed income generating items to empower constituents, despite the excruciating hardship bedeviling the nation. The beneficiaries were carefully drawn from the three local governments areas of the federal constituency,
Unsettling excitement befell the beneficiaries, local government leaders, and guests who were overwhelmed by the performance of the Legislator both in his constituency programmes and projects as well as being a vibrant and distinct voice at the floor of the Green Chambers of the House of Representatives, at plenary and committees oversight activities.
Addressing the people, Rt. Hon. Onobun began with a statement of gratitude to the people for giving him the opportunity to represent them at the National Assembly and in accordance with the promises made during his electioneering campaign, he is committed to no lesser performance other than to influence and attract every form of benefiting initiatives to his federal constituency.
“We have decided to make sure that constituents of the federal constituency gets equal share while I represent the federal constituency; not just in initiatives and projects, but also in the appointed Aides providing support services in my office. For instance, my Senior legislative aide is from Esan Central, while my Legislative Aide 1 and 2 are from Igueben and Esan West .
“Following a proper needs assessment across the federal constituency, we earlier this year, supplied medical equipments to two primary health care centres both in Esan West. And currently, two primary health care centres are simultaneously being constructed at Igueben and Esan West .
Four Borehole projects are currently ongoing in different parts of the constituency. We have supplied over 500 bags of fertilizers to farmers and over 1000 bags of rice to constituents to cushion the ravaging effects of hunger in the country.
The construction of about four different blocks of class rooms would commence later in the year.
The lawmaker encouraged the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the empowerment items. He also, demonstrated his commitment to educational development in his Federal constituency, as he gave out cash donations to students as part of his bursary scheme.
In an unprecedented appearance, Dr. Asue Ighodalo, the PDP candidate for the Edo gubernatorial election 2024, joined in the presentation of items to the beneficiaries.
Speaking to the people, Dr. Asue stated “Rt. Hon. Marcus Onobun is a worthy representative compared to his voiceless counterparts in the state at the National Assembly and this is what the PDP offers. I assure you of maximum performance if elected by the grace of God come 21st Sept., 2024”
On ground were top party leaders from local governments of the Federal constituency, erstwhile lawmakers, serving state legislators, state government board directors, party faithfuls and political supporters.
