WE WILL BEQUEATH A SAFE, HEALTHY AND FRIENDLY ENVIRONMENT TO EDO PEOPLE- ARC. JOSHUA OMOKHODION
Edo State Government has reiterated its commitment to ensure the state is the cleanest and most conducive place to live and thrive in.
The Commissioner for Environment and Sustainability, Arc. Joshua Omokhodion stated this during the presentation of forty Waste Bins to the Ministry by the Management of Bet Naija Foundation in Benin City.
Arc. Omokhodion described the donation as timely, explaining that it would go a long way in ensuring that the fight against indiscriminate refuse disposal in the state is won and in turn create a consciousness in the minds of residents towards proper sanitation practices.
The Commissioner explained that the Obaseki led administration has a vision to bequeath an environment that is safe, healthy and friendly to its citizen adding that the State Government is doing all it can to curb indiscriminate dumping of refuse especially in unauthorized places.
He commended the management of Bet Naija Foundation for showing high level of Cooperate Social Responsibility, calling on other organizations to join hands with the State Government in carrying out more projects for the welfare of the people.
According to him “citizens also contribute largely to the success of the government because the government is not just for itself but also for the people. This is key to us right now because the governor has said he wants to bequeath a society whereby Edo State will be ranked amongst the five cleanest states where people would want to come, live and do business’’.
He assured them of judicious use of the waste bins as it will be distributed within the three Senatorial District of the State.
Presenting the waste bins to the Commissioner, the Bet Naija Agent, Mr. Festus Eguakun, Super Agent Said the donation was part of the company’s Cooperate Social Responsibility and a sign of appreciation to the State Government for the smooth relationship between the government and the organization, assuring the Commissioner of more donations in the near future.
