War Against Substandard and Harmful food Items: Esan North East Health and Safety Monitoring Committee Begins Operation
Following an outcry at the rate of expired and counterfeited products been sold at the Uromi main market with reference to a Lady who came from Lagos and decided to buy cooking vegetable oil from Ojuromi main market to prepare her meal, an oil which later made her food soapy, the Council boss responded by setting up a committee called HEALTH AND SAFETY MONITORING COMMITTEE saddled with the responsibility of ensuring what we buy from the market are safe for human consumption
The committee ably led by Mr Adams Eimujeze has kick started its operations by visiting some vendor’s shop in Ojuromi main market to ascertain the quality of consumables been sold at the market.
Members of the public are advised to comply strictly with the committee as their job specifications have to do with safety of everyone in form of what we eat and drink. It’s also important to state that the committee is backed by law and they are not in isolation from NAFDAC as they work hand in hand but at the local government level.
