…. begins clampdown on illegality in the State.

BENIN: The Commissioner for Mining and Energy, Hon. Enaholo Ojiefoh, yesterday, took to the streets of Benin City, the Edo state capital, to enforce the “One litre for One litre” directive and clamp down on illegality in the petroleum sector in the State. The Commissioner who was accompanied by the Permanent Secretary, directors, and staff of the Ministry, Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), and heavy security details, embarked on his first operation as some stations were sealed for various offenses.

In his statement, Hon Enaholo Ojeifoh noted that “the Edo state government gave 14 days ultimatum to filling stations owners since on the 11th of July, 2023 to put an end to under-dispensing, hoarding, adulteration of products and all other forms of illegality. If you can’t sell to them the same quantity and quality they pay for, don’t sell at all.

“The fight against illegality is On and we will ensure Edo people smile again.” He posited
