BENIN: The Commissioner for Mining and Energy, Hon. Enaholo Ojiefoh, yesterday, took to the streets of Benin City, the Edo state capital, to enforce the “One litre for One litre” directive and clamp down on illegality in the petroleum sector in the State. The Commissioner who was accompanied by the Permanent Secretary, directors, and staff of the Ministry, Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), and heavy security details, embarked on his first operation as some stations were sealed for various offenses.
In his statement, Hon Enaholo Ojeifoh noted that “the Edo state government gave 14 days ultimatum to filling stations owners since on the 11th of July, 2023 to put an end to under-dispensing, hoarding, adulteration of products and all other forms of illegality. We however didn’t act after the time elapsed just to send a signal as always that Governor Godwin Obaseki’s administration is business friendly but can’t watch her citizens suffer the greed of some selected few. Enough is enough! The hardship in the country is already biting so hard and no one should aggravate it. Our people should have value for the money they spend. If you can’t sell to them the same quantity and quality they pay for, don’t sell at all.
