Unknown Soldiers and Unknown Agents; A Sensory Look at APC Failed Rigging Tactics and Implications

By Amb. Tony Okonigene

It was the Late Afro beat king, Fela Anikulapo-Kuti that sang the hit song “UNKNOWN SOLDIERS “ to expose the tactics the military used in eliminating his late mother without trace to them. Masked soldiers with no means of identification stormed the Kalakuta Republic home of Fela and destroyed everything in sight and in the process killed his mother.

Fela took the matter before an investigative panel of inquiry for justice. No one could identify any of the soldiers nor did anyone know where the came from. The verdict was straight. Unknown Soldiers perpetrated the act and no one was held responsible.

The APC in Edo State must have had this tactics in mind in their plans to use thugs to unleash violence on the people during the coming governorship election. The plan is to use proxy names and pictures of supposedly Party agents so that thugs can be used on Election Day to represent them. These thugs are meant to cause destruction and mayhem. No one will be able to identify them nor know where they will come from. At the end of the day, they will be declared “Unknown Agents “. Case closed.

I am tempted to praise the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for their diligence and refusal to yield to the compromise and intimidation of the APC led by the National chairman of the party who is currently facing multiple charges for fraud . However, the PDP should not take this stance by INEC as a sign of neutrality.

Edo people must be alert to defend their votes. Raise an alarm if you see any strange face in your polling unit masquerading as an APC agent . Chase the bastard away. Do not rely on the security agencies nor even INEC. We must take our collective destiny in our hands.

The position of the law is clear concerning the scam which the APC tried pushing through with their proxy agents. The APC cannot present any agent in over 3000 polling units during the election. Technically, the APC is out of the contest. INEC must publish these units before the date of the election. Otherwise, no one should believe
