UNIBEN Killing: Cultists to revenge over slain student kegite chief.

Two days after the gruesome murder of Obukobo Desmond Oghenerukevwe aka Mayor, a 400 level final year public administration student of the University of Benin, UNIBEN, fresh revelation are beginning to emerge surrounding his death just as there are indication that a cult war is likely to brake out between two rival cult group in Benin city, if not properly curtailed as a result of the killing of Mayor, as one cult group has linked him to be their member.
Sources on Wednesday night disclosed to Wonderful Media that members of the said cult group had earlier on Wednesday went for a revenge mission but didn’t meet any of their target at home and have now vow to continue in their search and would not rest until they fulfill their mission.
Recall Unknown gunmen had on Monday night assassinated the Chief of the Kegites club at the University of Benin (UNIBEN) aka ILYA OVIA. He was shot dead on Monday, 3 April, at about 9pm, in his hostel room on Hall 3 within the Campus.
A student source whose Identity cannot be mentioned because of security reasons, told Wonderfulmedia that he lives on same hall of residence with Desmond in the school, but 10 rooms apart, and he was around that faithful day, but contrary to earlier report that the gunmen shot sporadically to chase students away before going for their target and waiting for him to die and unhurriedly walked away, he denied that the killers didn’t shoot sporadically, and the attack occurred around 6.30-7.30 pm after classes, with the heavy wind blowing, though they heard two gunshots but, there were no shouts and no struggle to fight on the block where Desmond resides alone in a room because of his position and office compared to others that are 8 in a room…
He added that the sound of the gun shots created fear in everyone as people were silent for a while and others in the walkway ran up and down even (who is who) including the killers whom ran as well with the fearing students with innocent looks…
He continued, “And the school hostel had no CCTV working to track this… The only manual CCTV is the porters and they have been actively checking gate passes before someone enters the hostel, this ends by 4.30 when the other night duty staff return to duty…
Other sources confided to Wonderful Media, that the late Mayor, was formally schooling in Delta state university Abraka, where he allegedly joined a dreaded cult group called the maphite confraternity, before changing school to Uniben, but on getting to his new school he refused to associate with his cult group despite several attempt to make him fraternize with the Uniben group.
The source further alleged that it could be that those black axe cultists aka aiyes (another dreaded cult group) who knew him in delta state that pulled the hit on him. The source further said in pidgin; “I hear say the guy even get aza issues (yahoo-yahoo business) with some aiyes for abraka before he come start Uniben. But for some of he social media handle, he dey flame and even dey go their GCA meeting , take pic with men but Mf say dem nor dey roll , cos mf get big internal issue for Uniben now. He said.
This is just as one of late Desmond cousin, who identified herself as Joy, denied that her brother was never a yahoo boy, he never attended Delta state university nor a member of the maphite cult group, she however pray he rest in peace and she would miss him dearly, while describing the late Desmond as “a brother, he is his calm, he doesn’t look for someone trouble and he his a good boy.
But as at Wednesday the maphite confraternity held a meeting and vow to revenge over the killing of one of their own, inside source said they even went for a hit but didn’t not meet any of their target as they have all fled.
Meanwhile the remains of Obukobo Desmond Oghenerukevwe aka Mayor, will be laid to rest today, Thursday April 6, 2023, as a procession rite has been scheduled by his friends and members of the kegites club.
