TRIBUNAL JUDGEMENT; EDO PDP CALLS FOR CALM

The Edo State chapter of The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has called on all its members and well wishers in Ovia South West State Constituency, to remain calm. The party was reacting to the judgement of the Edo State Elections Petitions Tribunal in Benin that sacked the PDP candidate representing Ovia South West Constituency in the State Assembly, Hon. Destiny Enabulele on Friday. The Tribunal declared the APC candidate, Sunday Aghedo as the winner.
In a statement issued in Benin, the PDP State chairman, Rt. Hon. Dr. Tony Aziegbemi said there was no cause for alarm as the party intends to challenge the judgement at the Appeal Court. He expressed confidence that the Appeal Court will affirm the victory of Hon. Destiny Enabulele as declared by the Independent Electoral Commission (INEC).
Rt. Hon. Dr. Tony Aziegbemi noted; ” The outcome of the judgement by The Elections Petitions Tribunal, Benin, in respect of the Ovia South West State Constituency, came to us in the the Edo State PDP as a rude shock. However, as true democrats, we appeal to all our members and well wishers in Ovia South West to remain calm as the party intends to appeal the judgement.
” As a party that has promoted the sustainance of our democracy over the years, we wish to express our confidence in our judiciary’s ability to dispense justice at the end of the day. We believe that the Appeal Court will affirm the victory of our candidate, Hon. Destiny Enabulele as declared by The Independent Electoral Commission (INEC) after the elections. “
